As we begin a new year at Causeway Impact, we’re excited to share an important milestone in our journey: Karim Shariff has joined our Board of Directors.
Karim comes to Causeway at a moment when our platform is entering its next phase of growth, deepening global partnerships, expanding across regions, and continuing to explore how capital, community, and purpose can work together in an increasingly complex world. His arrival strengthens not only our governance, but also our imagination for what’s possible.
A globally recognized investor and philanthropist, Karim brings decades of experience working at the intersection of finance, responsibility, and cross-cultural engagement. Through his firm, Majlis Investment Management, he has partnered with families and institutions across the United States, India, the Middle East, and East Africa to design long-term investment strategies rooted in local context, trust, and durability. Majlis, whose name means “gathering” or “network”, reflects a philosophy we deeply share at Causeway: that lasting prosperity is built through dialogue, patience, and shared purpose, not shortcuts.
Karim’s work has consistently emphasized selective action, long-term relationships, and a willingness to embrace complexity rather than abstract models. These qualities align closely with Causeway’s belief that impact, like capital, must be stewarded with care, humility, and a global lens.
Beyond investing, Karim’s philanthropic work reflects a deep commitment to education, youth opportunity, and cultural preservation. He has established permanently endowed scholarships at Amherst College supporting both Indian students and American students pursuing international service, and he serves on boards including The Nature Conservancy’s Africa Council. Across these efforts, a common thread runs through his work: building structures that endure, long after any single investment or gift.
As our CEO, Douglas Heske, shared, “Karim’s career sits at the intersection of capital, responsibility, and imagination. His global perspective and long-standing commitment to social and environmental progress will be invaluable as we deepen our platform’s ability to connect people to meaningful causes around the world.”
For Karim, Causeway represents a timely opportunity to help reimagine the role of capital itself. “Causeway’s model,” he notes, “offers investors a way to align what they value with what they fund, bridging philanthropy, investment, and global community engagement in a way that feels both necessary and hopeful.”
We’re honored to welcome Karim Shariff to the Causeway Impact Board, and we look forward to the insight, relationships, and shared vision he brings as we step into 2026 together.
